The 13,000‑km journey – about 7,000 km shorter than the Suez Canal route – carries 837 TEU of cargo (vehicles, chemicals, metal products and empty containers). The voyage tests journey time, fuel use, operating costs, reliability and insurance, while navigating ice, Russian permits and sanctions.
