Norway expands Finnmark Brigade with artillery, air‑defence and communications units

On Aug 20 Norway expanded its Finnmark Brigade – the country’s second military brigade and first since the Cold War – by adding an artillery battalion, an air‑defence battery and a communications company. The upgraded unit can fire up to 40 km, coordinate with aircraft and ships, and patrol the 198‑km Norway‑Russia border from Porsangmoen, roughly 180 km away.
