US Coast Guard Awards Contracts for Six Arctic Security Cutters – Four to Bollinger, Two to Finland’s Rauma

The U.S. Coast Guard has signed a $3.3 billion contract to build six Arctic Security Cutters, with four vessels slated for construction at Bollinger Shipyards’ Lockport yard and two to be built by Finland’s Rauma Marine Constructions. Production will begin next year; the first cutter is scheduled for delivery in 2028 and all units should be completed by 2031. Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin said the cutters will bolster U.S. strength, capability and resolve in an increasingly contested Arctic.
