U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Begins Scoping for Ambler Mining District Review

The Corps has opened the scoping phase of the 30‑month environmental review for the Ambler Mining District project, accepting public comments through November 2 2026. The proposal is for a large open‑pit, hard‑rock mine that would process about 11,000 tons of ore daily, disturb roughly 1,727 acres, and permanently impact 120.7 acres of wetlands. The project hinges on the 211‑mile Ambler Road and will include roads, water infrastructure, and a tailings facility. This scoping period must precede the forthcoming Environmental Impact Statement.
