Suicide deaths and attempts among Alaska youths continue at high rates, report shows

Alaska’s youth suicide death rate peaked in 2025 at 19.2 per 100,000 children aged 10‑18, the highest in a decade, with 174 under‑18 deaths and 4,101 attempts recorded since 2016. Indigenous youths face fatality and attempt rates more than twice the state average, and a bill to expand school mental‑health services was vetoed.
