Russia puts $116bn price tag on Arctic shipping ambitions

Russia plans to invest about RUB10 trillion ($116 bn) by 2035 to develop a fully integrated Arctic transport corridor, including ports, rail, waterways, and an expanded icebreaker and merchant fleet. The project will require international funding, with China positioned as a likely key partner to overcome Western sanctions and expand the Northern Sea Route into a global shipping corridor.
