Repsol ramps up Alaska production, plans $1.5 billion investment amid lawsuit

Repsol has begun production at the multibillion‑dollar Pikka field on Alaska’s North Slope and plans to invest $1.5 billion over the next three to four years to expand output from 80,000 to 120,000 barrels per day. The company and partner Shell hold 241,000 federal acres in the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska, while environmental groups sue to slow development.
