NATO launches 600‑to‑1,200‑man forward land forces in Lapland on 6 June

NATO officially launched Forward Land Forces Finland on 6 June. The Swedish‑led battlegroup of about 600 troops (expandable to 1,200) is based in Boden with a multinational staff in Rovaniemi. The force, joined by the UK, France, Italy, Denmark and Iceland, strengthens NATO’s Arctic flank amid Russia’s planned 350,000‑person expansion near Finland.
