Moscow Says First Oil Tanker Departs from Arctic Port Dikson After Sechin‑Putin Green‑Light

During a ceremony beside a waiting tanker on Russia’s remote Arctic coast, Rosneft head Igor Sechin urged Vladimir Putin to approve loading the first cargo of crude. Putin granted permission, and the tanker was loaded and departed from Dikson via a new pipeline network that links fields to storage and the Vostok Oil terminal. The project, part of an almost $50 billion investment, could boost Russia’s output by up to 10 % by 2030, though much of the crude will come from existing fields while new Arctic fields remain largely off‑load.
