Judge dismisses lawsuit over Alaska federal land transfer amid environmental concerns

A federal judge ruled that a lawsuit challenging the transfer of 1.38 million acres along the Dalton Highway corridor to the state was time‑barred, following Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s February revocation of two public‑land orders that had protected wilderness and subsistence access. The decision leaves open the possibility for mining and road construction on land that hosts the Trans‑Alaska Pipeline, a proposed LNG project and Ambler Road.
