Inuit Council Calls for Barrier‑Free Travel Across Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Russia

The Inuit Circumpolar Council reaffirmed its campaign at a July 25 assembly in Iqaluit to allow unrestricted movement of Inuit across their traditional homelands in Alaska, Canada, Greenland and Russia. It urged the creation of an Inuit ID card similar to First Nations status cards to eliminate passport requirements and ease travel, noting current detours that force Inuit to travel over 1,000 km via Anchorage or Fairbanks.
