Iceland joins German‑Canadian‑Norwegian‑Danish maritime security pact

On July 8, Iceland became the fifth member of the North Atlantic Maritime Security Partnership during a signing ceremony at NATO’s summit in Ankara. Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir and Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius signed on behalf of their countries, expanding joint maritime surveillance, anti‑submarine warfare and undersea infrastructure protection across the high northern seas.
