Canadian Coast Guard’s only large drone is testing Arctic capability in Iqaluit

The Canadian Coast Guard is testing its Hermes 900 Starliner surveillance drone in Iqaluit. Aged ‘97‑model, the aircraft was disassembled, shipped from Greenwood, N.S., and re‑assembled in a Transport Canada hangar where it will fly Arctic conditions up to 72° N through spring 2027. It has already logged 80 hours of testing and will enhance monitoring, pollution detection, and vessel‑response capabilities.
