$7M federal funding for eight renewable projects across Canada’s Arctic territories

On July 29, Canada announced $7 million in Clean Energy for Rural and Remote Communities funding to support eight projects in Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and Yukon. The package includes a $1.4 million wind feasibility study for Baker Lake, solar arrays on Noel Nuvak Arena ($729 k) and Resolute Bay garage ($260 k), a $410 k hybrid microgrid in Arviat, and a $2.8 M research grant to Yukon University – all aimed at reducing diesel use and boosting Indigenous‑led clean‑energy initiatives.
